Meet Dawn House

The Dawn House Bed combines smart technology with the best customizable sleep solution to support a vibrant life, with built-in wellness, safety, and other convenience features that are helpful for aging adults. A capable Shopify website was needed to bring the Dawn House website to life.

The Challenge

Fell Swoop, our design/UX partner, led the first phase of the Dawn House project. Bear Group participated in the discovery and design review meetings, providing feedback on the feasibility and cost implications of planned features being established in the UX. This phase runs in parallel with our technical scoping and prototyping to help inform that work.

The Solution

Bear Group recommended Shopify Plus as the core platform for the new Dawn House commerce experience. The platform comes with access to Shopify Scripts API and the Script Editor app, allowing our team to create personalized in-cart and checkout experiences that would distinguish and reflect the Dawn House brand.

Shopify’s base application supports many of the key capabilities Dawn House needs, including:

Shopify 2.0 Dawn base theme with the ability to fully customize the theme to support their new brand
Management of pricing and SKUs
Catalog management and categorization
Business intelligence suite for analytics tools
Many built third-party solutions for payment gateway, tax, and fraud screening
Configurable product bundles and grouped products

Related products selling capabilities on product detail pages

The Results

The Shopify Plus platform includes a large number of features to cover a broad range of requirements. Based on Dawn House’s specific needs, we identified several requirements that could not be met without extending the platform using a combination of off-the-shelf apps and custom code.

Project Highlights

Custom Bundled Products Solution

We built a custom solution to bundle Shopify’s existing products together while allowing them to be purchased at a discount and retain individual SKUs and pass them through to the proper fulfillment channel.

Multiple Variant Products

Shopify limits three variants per product and one resulting SKU. To handle the Dawn House Bed, we treated the bed, mattress, and headboard as individual products that will be added to the cart.

Mattress Recycling Fees

The recycling fee a customer pays varies depending on the state they live in. We used Shopify Checkout Scripts to evaluate — based on the customer’s shipping addresses — which rate product must be added to their cart.

Mattress Haul Away

Ergomotion’s shipping partner can pick up a customer’s old mattress and properly recycle it. Customers have the option to add this to their cart when they need this service.
