The University of Washington (UW) is a public research university in Seattle, Washington. Founded in 1861, UW is one of the oldest universities on the West Coast. The university has three campuses, in Seattle, Tacoma and Bothell.
Building a Custom Website on Drupal
Bear Group was engaged by the Tacoma campus to update the look and feel of the homepage, news section, and primary header/footer navigation across the site. The goal was to simplify the homepage and strengthen the branding while developing a more robust news section.
We worked within an existing installation of Drupal 7; the site was built using sub-themes and Drupal modules such as panels. All configuration changes from new content types to views to menus were saved out as Drupal features for deployment across environments. We built a custom XML consumer module for the event calendaring which is managed in Trumba.
The redesigned site is responsive for tablets and adapts for handhelds. We were able to complete the project in under 45 days, in time for the start of the 2014 school year.
