Supporting Architecture's Biggest Award Announcement Each Year

The Pritzker Prize, an international award honoring a living architect for significant achievement, was established by the Pritzker family of Chicago through their Hyatt Foundation in 1979. Often referred to as “architecture’s Nobel” and “the profession’s highest honor,” it is granted annually.

Since our first engagement with Pritzker back in 2011, our team has come in annually to update their website with small aesthetic improvements and help with the announcement process for each year’s Pritzker Prize recipient.

A Website Update

Bear Group was brought in by Liska + Associates to migrate the website to a content management system and provide the CMS tools to support a Chinese language version of the website.

Our developers helped migrate their website forward to the latest release of Drupal. With recent improvements made to the Drupal core, editing interface, and security, Drupal 8.0 provided the Pritzker team with a stronger editorial tool.

Using the Drupal Migrate API, we were able to move existing Pritzker Prize content from their old platform to their new platform, maintaining their attributes, images, and expansive amount of written articles, as well as translated content from Chinese versions of their website.

Updates

  • Migration from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8 gives the Prtizker team access to the latest Drupal editing tools.

Design Collaboration

As we worked on their migration, Pritzker also took the opportunity to completely refresh the front-end of their website. Working in collaboration with the designers at Liska + Associates, we implemented their changes to the website’s theming, improving mobile responsiveness.
