A graduate of Arizona State University, Marc Young is a web developer originally from Salt Lake City, UT. After calling Arizona home for fourteen years Marc has returned to his home state of Utah and lives in the city of St. George. When he's not immersed in web development he likes to play his guitar, hike and spend time with his son.

How did you first become interested in web development?
While working at the University of Phoenix, I got the opportunity to develop and maintain the main website for the Dean. Previously, the closest I had gotten to any sort of web development were the few elective classes I took in college. I really enjoyed working on the website, so I took additional training and got a job at ASU, where I was introduced to Drupal.
What is your current favorite band?
Tough question, possibly Neutral Milk Hotel but I have an affection for a lot of bands and artists.
What would you recommend to visitors of your corner of the world?
Any outdoors activity, if you throw a rock from St. George you'll hit a national or state park, there is not much in the way of nightlife, we go to Vegas for that.
What is your most favorite place you've traveled to?
New Orleans, you can find great music just by walking through the French Quarter at any time of the day, on any day of the week. Also, the food is amazing and the culture, rich.
When you're not at your desk, what are you most likely doing?
Web development, learning about web development or helping my son with his aspirations to become a YouTuber.
Are there any open source projects or emerging tech that you're interested in or currently following?
Reactive Native seems to be an essential thing these days. I also took a Golang tutorial, it's a really interesting language for services.
