Jaime Lopez

Sr. Developer | Team Lead

Jaime Lopez is a skilled developer, approaching his projects with the same careful planning and attention to detail as an experienced engineer. A graduate of the Universidad de Concepción, Jaime Lopez earned a degree in Electronics Engineering.

Jaime lives in the Seattle area with his family and a couple of cats. They love to explore the outdoors and spend time hiking and camping, rain or shine (in Seattle, it's mostly rain).

What You Need to Know About Jaime Lopez

Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in Concepción, Chile, a coastal city right in the middle of the country. The area has a population of about a million people, and is considered the rock music capital of Chile. Fun fact: Chile’s independence was signed in Concepción’s plaza in 1818.

What do you like best about Seattle?

The many outdoor opportunities there are and how big the outdoor community is. I also enjoy the grey weather and the rain, which is what makes it so pretty up here.

When you’re away from your desk what are you most likely to be doing?

Spending time with my wife, daughter, and our cats. Going for a hike, a car camp, or a backpacking trip. I also like to catch up with current TV shows.

What was your first introduction to coding/web development?

I styled and added features as best I could to my mIRC client in the late 90's, but I didn’t really know what I was doing. Once, when I was grounded, I was only allowed to use an old computer that could not run Windows 98 very well. A friend recommended that I try Linux, and for 6 months I used Red Hat, where I learned a lot about the command line and bash scripts. I had a more formal introduction to coding in college when I took a C programming class.

Do you have any recommendations for visitors of Seattle?

If you have the time, go to Mt. Rainier National Park.

Are there any books/films/T.V. series that you’re currently interested in?

I’m currently watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Ozark, and Attack on Titan. I’m also a big sci-fi fan, and I’d watch a rerun of Stargate or Battlestar Galactica any day.
