On the home page, the main hero image rotates with each new page load. The lower four blocks are used to highlight specific sections of the site and are updated frequently by the client.
Here is the web site before its striking makeover.
In the site header, there are links to dock cameras, which are refreshed every 5 minutes with new images. Coastal Transportation moves freight for the popular TV show "The Deadliest Catch" and these dock cams have been a very popular page for fans.
The center image and the left and right columns on the interior pages are managed through a single editor view, so you don’t have to jump from place to place to make changes to your site.
The web site is integrated with the internal systems that update Coastal Transportation’s central scheduling and vessel tracking hourly.
Coastal Transportation
Project Date: March 2009
Web Site: www.coastaltransportation.com
Type of Project: Business Web Sites
Design Partner: Design Hovie Studios
Project Overview:
Coastal Transportation is a 25-year-old company providing cargo transportation that serves the communities of Western Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. Bear worked with several internal stakeholders and an operations consultant specifying the functionality of the site. We implemented the new design, integrated schedule data with internal systems, and provided a content management system that makes it easy for the internal staff to manage the site.
